Non-fiction Journal Responses

Shutting out the sky

I've never been a fan of nonfiction books in the past because of the complexity and exaggerated details that are directed at the reader. In the past, I've been on a strictly 'no nonfiction book' reading spree whenever i had to read. Truth is, i'm not a fan of reading at all, but whenever i was asked to read independently  in the past, i would always go with what i was comfortable with; and that was fiction books. For this assignment, i chose this nonfiction book because it seems pretty straightforward and based on events i spent a great deal of time covering in History class. In addition, i chose this book because it has pictures on almost every other page. Yes, pictures! I found out that to draw my attention to a book and to keep me attentive, i have to see pictures or videos.
I am a visual learner and so i believed that this book would be a great choice for me.
Although i have chosen books with pictures to read in the past, this book is definitely different from any other preferences I've had before. With my hatred for history along with my hatred for reading, i never thought that i would pick up a nonfiction journal that is based on history,  to read.
